If you believe the national surveys, only 30% of employees enjoy what they do for a living. Life is too short to waste our time doing something that does not inspire us. Sometimes we just need to see the examples of others to help us chart our own course. When we meet people who love their craft - they inspire us.
Our blog, “Having Your BestDay”, are personal first-hand experiences graciously provided by members of our team, as well as other thoughts that inspire us, information that makes us think, and insights we have learned over time.
One of the organizations I worked for was full of small “p” politics. Our employee recognition program should have given out Emmy Awards as there was more drama than a day-time soap opera. Looking back now, the headwaters of the drama came from a lack of trust, a lack of accountability, and self-preservation skills that had been learned over time.

This is Remi the cow dog. He was born to do one job - a job that he loves - herding.
Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.
I have an embarrassing confession to make. No, not the one where I accidentally walked into the wrong gender restroom at work. The other thing. Our son was stranded in an airport by an airline. Had we not called him happenstance, he would have spent a night on an airport bench. The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.
It seems like the world is starving for leadership. There are countless books, seminars, and systems proclaiming the secret to leadership. In the workplace we are sometimes disappointed with our supervisors when they play small or fail to inspire. In my quest for leadership, I finally realized I was raised by one.
